Thinavhuuo is currently the operator and manager of 4 third party landfill sites

These sites which are all in the area of Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality are for the mining companies of Palabora Mining Copper (PMC), Foskor, Bosveld; and one for the Municipality itself. As dedicated environmental steward, we ensure that all these facilities are managed in compliance with local and national regulations and standards. Thinavhuuo has the expertise and experience to manage any type of landfill on behalf of clients. This includes land rehabilitation and the implementation and management of administrative procedures, operational controls and regulatory compliance to ensure that every facility operates at maximum levels of safety and efficiency.

In keeping with our vision of Managing Waste for a Friendlier Environment, we utilise the latest technology to ensure that landfills operate as safe and efficient final destinations for the bulk of society’s waste. The Company has always realised the necessity for landfill sites in its areas of operation; and has as such bought and will be embarking on the development of the 4 hectares land alongside the R71 adjacent to the Hoedspruit turnoff.

One added advantage of this development is increasing the lifespan of the landfill sites to include:

• The Integrated Waste Management Services Centre of the current sites

• Residential as well as commercial (light and heavy) development nodes

• A waste management centre for composting, used pallets and plastic

• A Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), where general waste will be received and sorted into recoverable and recyclable materials before unusable waste is disposed

• An area zoned for heavy industrial use, including the proposed establishment of used tyre processing facilities

The Company deliverables in this service category are the provision of:

• Material collection vehicle for the collection of the smaller quantities of material from within the client’s premises. The size of the vehicle (which could either be a van or truck) will depend upon the nature and type of material to be collected.

• Driver and spotter(s) for the motor vehicle

• Material sorters stationed at the landfill

• Landfill Gate Controller whose function is to act as the gate keeper of the landfill site; maintain a record of the vehicles which come to offload material at the landfill. The record would include, amongst others, vehicle arrival and departure times, registration number; type and estimated quantity of material delivered

• Supervisor whose overall role is to manage the team’s activities on site
